How to get out of a rut

by | Jun 13, 2025 | Blog

If you find yourself, your franchise, your business (your whatever) in a rut, here’s a simple thing to do to get out of it…

Get in a room with people who are…

More successful than you.

Smarter than you.

And more creative than you.

Because they’ve all probably been through that exact same rut and pushed through it.

I’m talking nasty rut.

A rut that’s costing you money.

A rut that’s consuming your mindshare.

A rut that takes you to a nasty place faster than watching the Cowboys get eliminated from the playoffs (if you’re a Cowboys fan)

(Go Birds!)

In a franchise system, you have the benefit of tapping into owners who are years ahead.

In the independent world, it’s worth paying to get into the right room or group.

Whatever system or world you’re in, find your people and go into that room with the right attitude.

Listen.

Be vulnerable.

Ask questions.

Learn.

Ask more questions.

And then execute.

Good enough execution is ok.

Doesn’t have to be perfect.

All you have to do is move the needle a little to get momentum going to break through.

And once you break through, you’ll hit another rut 😂.

Then do it again.

The beauty of entrepreneurship is you’re in control of the outcome.

You have the opportunity to make amazing things happen.

And you don’t have to figure it all out yourself.

The First Step is a Conversation.

If you have that burning desire to build your own successful business so you can live a life you can only have working for yourself, let’s talk.

The First Step is a Conversation

The first step is a pretty simple one: We have a conversation.

After we speak, we’ll be able to figure out if there is a good fit to work together.
